Space for a Health Information Network on Earth (SHINE) Project :

The SHINE project has been initiated in 2010 by a group of 35 multicultural and inter-disciplinary students from the International Space University (ISU) in Strasbourg, France. The deliverables of the project included a roadmap to the year 2030 looking at the way space technology can contribute to improve health care solutions and the SHINE web platform. SHINE aims to provide the link between space assets and environmental parameters, which are in turn linked to specific health problems. Currently, SHINE links prominent infectious diseases, their indicators, and the region each disease is known to affect, with relevant satellite instruments and the means of obtaining the necessary data source. A continual goal of SHINE is to integrate multiple data systems in order to provide better health care solutions.
